Sight First 11 Chairman District 201Q4

Will Bauer -

District Chairman Will Bauer reports that you can use donations for this worthy cause to buy a Melvin Jones Fellow and you can pay it off in instalments. So if your Club is considering a big donation from a fund raiser, why not ask for a Melvin Jones? This is a win win situation you are doing your bit in ridding the world of preventable blindness and you are rewarding an outstanding club member or a person in your community who has excelled in good deeds.

White Cane Chairman District 201Q4

Will Bauer

The traditional day for recognition of the visually impaired is 15th October, WHITE CANE DAY.

Plan your functions to recognise the visually impaired people in your community in the weeks surrounding this date.

What a great way to let your areas blind and visually handicapped know you care!!!!

Rockhampton Fitzroy River hosted a Sunday Lunch on White Cane Day for the Rockhampton area & it was well supported by local Lions Clubs and some of the Visually Impaired people of this region attended as guests. Hostess for the event Lion Colleen Couper of Fitzroy River Lions provided a lovely afternoon with music by the Capricorn Silver Band & a short sing a long with Eddie O was well received & enjoyed by all. Do any other Clubs or Districts want to share news of their White Cane Day celebrations?? Please let me know on email q4lions@bigpond.net.au
