Diabetes:

Another hard project because of changing times and medical procedures but already one club has enquired re the running of Blood Sugar Glucose tests. I will follow through and keep posted.

Organ Donor:

ORGAN DONOR: - What do the Cabinet members really think of this project - There are quite a lot of different Govt Sections having input and also family members have the final decision. What do you think Lions get out of this Project at the present time??? I would like to hear your views, please.

Australian Lions Childrens Mobility Foundation:

WALKING ON AIR THANKS TO A GIFT:

Pictured is proud Mum Tanya Pasalic who
Recently had the joy of watching her 6
Year old son Harrison walk. Born with
Cerebral palsy Harrison had been waiting
2 years for a Hart Walker now he can
experience hands free walking or hold
his mum's hand when they go shopping.
An anonymous donation has helped
end the wait of Harrison and four other
children. Australian Lions Children's
Mobility Foundation works hand in hand
with the Cerebral Palsy League t help bring
about the miracle of walking.

Mission Statement of LCMF:

To source funding for mobility devices for children with disabilities.

To seek financial support from Lions and Leo Clubs within District.

To co-ordinate the various programmes between Clubs and the Specialist support organizations.

To promote the Foundation using national programmes such as "Walk For An Aussie Kid"

To provide regular updates re latest developments through the Lionhunter Publication.

To further promote the Foundation via a static display at District Convention.

Hearing Dogs:

Meet Dan a new resident of Glenwood,
he has been sponsored to assist a hearing
impaired lady there named Rosemary
Perren. Rosemary has received assistance
from the Glenwood & District Lions Club who
were able to supply Dan and help the two get
used to each other. Dan is a cross Jack Russell
Kelpie and from the pound to fully trained
and in the home working with the hearing impaired it costs
approximately $22,000 per dog so at Lions
Hearing Dog Center they need all the help we
can give in the way of donations.
All in District 201Q4 wish Rosemary all the
best for her future & congratulate Glenwood
and District Lions Club on an excellent
project.

AT the MD Convention I also spoke with the personnel at the Hearing Dogs stand and made the conclusion that this was going to be the easiest of all the projects to deal with. So far I have received a manual that explains their role and guidelines etc.

Sound Field System:

Sound System can be provided in Primary Schools and benefits all the students especially those who are deaf or hearing impaired or those with attention deficit disorders. The reason this is aimed at primary School children is because they use a "Home Class Room" where they spend the majority of their School time this equipment is not portable. 73% of Teachers note that increase in behaviour with learners remaining on-task for longer periods where this equipment is used and off-task behaviour was easier to address as the Teacher used a friendlier voice in a lower volume.

Schools can apply for a system by contacting their local Lions Club or they can make direct contact with the District Chairman Peter Donghi on the above email or you may even go directly to the hearing Dogs Center. Brochures and information available through District Chairman.
